This would never have happened in Baghdad

Think it sucks to have your cellphone stolen? Try fighting in your father's war.

All families suffer hardships, and the Bush clan is no different. More than 140,000 American families will spend Thanksgiving tomorrow without loved ones who are stuck fighting in the war in Iraq. First daughter Barbara Bush will spend the holiday without her cellphone and her purse.

A thief snatched Barbara's stuff this week in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she was having dinner in the midst of a two-week trip with her twin sister, Jenna. Secret Service agents assigned to protect the twins -- and yes, you're paying for their services -- apparently didn't notice when the perpetrator struck.

It's as good a reminder as any that the 24-year-old Bush twins have chosen not to serve in what their father calls the "decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century." But really, who can blame them for avoiding Iraq? The president will meet next week with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki -- in Jordan.
