Acceptance Speech
MARDOU FOX

Applause-o-meter

Way back in the '80s dreary, while I suffered, weak and teary
Over a girlfriend she the poisoner, she the thief and she the whore
While I sat there softly sobbing, suddenly a thought came bobbing
As if my addled brain were throbbing, throbbing at its
Very core --
"Getting mad is folly," it said, "get even and settle the score."
Merely this, and nothing more.

Ah succinctly I remember, the toilet bowl I did dismember
And the Honda Civic's fender straight off the car I tore.
Gleefully I packed the U-Haul, friends out West, those I did call
All in the game, the name of the game, the name
Of settling the score.
This I did, and nothing more.

Now it is the '90s glitzy, and I am living very ritzy
Far from Jersey-Jake, and the life I had before.
As I sit here mind a-boggle, thoughts a go-go, brain a goggle,
That you would find my tale worth telling. Dare I say
A bit compelling?
Gratitude in my heart is welling,
Thankful am I, forevermore.

'Tis truly an honor for me to say, "I am Drama Queen for a Day."

Thanks specially to Wendy, Kim,
Gitty and Jean,
Irma, Anne-Marie,
Agnes, Kate and Marleen,
To Angelique, Micheline and lest we forget,
My sister-in-law Ari -- a wonderful set
Of great girlfriends.

Yours faithfully,
Queen Mardou I
