About Garrison Keillor

Garrison Keillor was born in Anoka, Minn., in 1942. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966 and has worked in radio since 1963. He was the creator and host of the nationally syndicated radio show "A Prarie Home Companion," from 1974 to 1987. In 1989, Keillor came back on the air with a new show called "The American Radio Company," and in 1993 he changed the name of his show back to "A Prarie Home Companion." The show is currently heard on over 400 public radio stations nationwide.

Mr. Keillor's first book, "Happy to Be Here," was published in 1982, and was followed by "Lake Wobegon Days" (1985), "Leaving Home" (1987), "We Are Still Married" (1989), "WLT: A Radio Romance" (1991) and "The Book of Guys" (1993). He lives in Wisconsin and New York.

Mr. Keillor's new novel, "Wobegon Boy" (Viking), goes on sale Oct. 27, 1997.
