June 19, 1999 | Time was, to earn a degree and qualify for a professional career, one had to physically attend an institution of higher learning, with all its ancillary costs -- the heavy books, cramped housing and binge drinking. Cyberspace changes everything. Online distance learning promises an education faster, better, cheaper and without the bother of human interaction.

Readers are challenged to submit a course description (maximum 60 words) for an inappropriate online learning experience.

Charlie Varon is a humorist and playwright. His works include "Ralph Nader Is Missing" and "Rush Limbaugh in Night School." Jim Rosenau is a writer, editor and software designer in Berkeley, Calif.
